I heard someone talking once, about smiling pretty and staying in picture perfect shape, so that one day a man will want you for his wife. Not very many things have the power to make me angry; but this, this makes my stomach tight and my heart beat as if I've been running for hours. There are so many guidelines to follow in this life already, falling in love should be the one thing we let be. Wild & free, protected from outside forces. Fill your mouth with sugar so your kiss tastes sweet and skip meals so your waistline stays thin. & don't you think about exploring out there in this world, we wouldn't want for your story to exceed his. And darling, watch how you play, your hair must stay neat. Please, promise me you'll break every rule there is when it comes to what the people have to say of love. Refuse to sit still. Refuse to let life slip through your fingers, sitting in the window waiting for a man who sees only the shell that encases the world that spins and the flowers that bloom inside of you. Live to tell tales and laugh loud when you can't contain your excitement. Jump up and down on the first day of fall when the air feels crisp and for every 60 seconds you're granted, shine as bright as your divine heart allows. So when you do fall, it won't be because you've been searching everywhere you turn. I think it will be because you both happened to be living life so fully, your paths couldn't help but meet at the same fork in the road. Love isn't for finding. It's what happens when two people who are experiencing happiness so true collide with a glance. And because they began their journeys so full, they'll know that their love must be true, because they've already tasted every flavor joy. Every flavor but this one.
You are so exquisite, men cannot help but notice the trail of luminescence you leave in your wake. But darling, just because they take notice, does not mean they are your one & only. Many will see you, many will fall for you. Many will tell you they love you, but many will not know how.
Live your life. Write a story as beautiful and as awe-inspiring as you are, and you'll see. One day it will begin. He'll notice you in crystal clarity on a journey unlike one he's ever seen before. & for the first time, there will be a soul who loves you enough to keep up. Trust me, he'll see you like you're the one who threw the sun into the sky.
Just give him time to get back on his feet.
Earthquakes like you and I tend to knock things out of their place

changing

everything is changing
people grow old
flowers wilt
bath water goes cold
leaves fall
the sun rises
tears dry
smiles shine
to live is to be in a constant transition,
always traveling,
always shifting,
on to something better,

on to something different

I know it hurts
as if all that you've built has cracked and fallen on your chest
I know it feels as if all is lost
like the whole world has something you've misplaced,
but I need you to stop your crying, because a headache will do you no good
and I have a story to tell you,
one I suspect you've left on the shelf for far too long
so in case no one is there to remind you of its pages, I'm here to tell it to you once more
it's a story of a girl designed by the king of heaven and earth
the king that placed each star in the sky,
believed that the world would be left incomplete without her in it
he sent her here, in his perfect timing, to live the days she's living
to fight the battles she's fighting
but he knew she couldn't do it alone,
so for 9 months, her mama grew the heart that's beating in her chest,
waiting to meet her, waiting to hold her, waiting to show her this world
she was raised on hope and dreams,
and grew tall like a sunflower in a field of weeds
the world loved her so, for she loved the world
freckles covered her skin as evidence of the sun's sweet kisses
and the lines on her cheeks show all the smiles she's given
but the people in this land can be so cold,
and the girl has a heart that can only hold so much
her eyes look in the mirror and see a reflection, not a person
she cannot see the way she glows when she talks about love
and she cannot see the way she effortlessly brushes the hair out of her eyes on a windy day
she cannot know how many people she's passed who've wondered about her story,
and she cannot know how many flowers she's planted in another's yard with each dandelion wish
she has forgotten who placed her here, gently, in the arms of a woman who lived the tales she's telling
and her story is only one of 18 years,
her book is hardly filled
and I am certain, that if she just sat upon her floor, and pulled it out once more
she'd see that the world is only as confused as she
and that the life she has left to live can only get sweeter
because the king that dusted the sky in shooting stars to lay under,
has yet to set down his pen
and tell me, love,
what story do you know of, that ends before it even begins?

every once in a while you meet someone
and you know in meeting them that their purpose in your life is not to last forever
you might not fall in love with them
or become their partner in life's adventures
but even though it seems that we should be sad to let go of something so simple and indifferent and fine in a life of chaos and choices to be made,
it just isn't
because even though their presence isn't one to last,
at least for a little while you've had someone to talk about life with
who doesn't expect anything more out of you
than a heart going down a completely different path
willing to listen

indestructible

The people of this world will tell you to be tough, that you should grow a thick skin. But I've never liked the thought of it. The sea, she is strong. She is fearless. She is powerful. She can rock the people who travel along her path, but she is not indestructible. The wind can break and scatter and lift, but the destruction it creates will always pass. You see, the earth we call home has moments of rage. It cries out in heartbreak and floods in frustration. It is loved one day and abused the next. It has seen so much, and still, the waters calm with the rising sun.
The people of this world will tell you to be tough. But the earth and I, we're here to tell you that the only way to make it through with a smile left to share, is to remain soft. You don't have to forget, but forgiveness is imperative. People will hurt you, but they cannot take your light away unless you choose to let it flicker and die. And to love, that is a fearless act, but you mustn't build walls so high around yourself in fear of sorrow, that you never taste the kind of love worth writing sonnets about. Allow yourself to shatter, and then pick up your pieces. Beam golden rays when you are happy, and fall like you've never been broken. Live your days to their fullest capacity until your are spilling at the brim. Don't you see? You do not have to be unbreakable to be strong. There is such a large difference, my love, between living and surviving.
